Before you step into the DAW, you should have some sense of inspiration and direction. Without it, there’s a good chance that you’ll waste time and end up creating something without any substance that ends up in the trash folder. It seems like an obvious tip, but producers far too often overlook it. Committing time to producing isn’t enough; we must approach producing with a positive and inspired mindset if we want to create something we are happy with.
If you’re feeling uninspired when you’re about to produce, take a step back to find inspiration before you begin to write. Inspiration may come from another song, a sample pack or nearly anything else that inspires you to be creative.
With inspiration in mind, you’ll approach producing with an open and creative mindset, allowing you to easily write better music.
